Trevi Fountain
Legend says that if you toss a coin in this fountain, you will surely return to Rome someday. Created in 1732 by Nicola Salvi, the fountain represents Oceanus, the sea God with his seahorses. It is one of the most popular attractions in Rome.
Arch of Constantine
The Arch of Constantine was created in 315 AD to honor the 10th anniversary of Roman emperor Constantine’s accession. The arch is 7.4m deep, 25.7m wide and 21m long and was built using borrowed parts from other monuments.
Trek up to Gianicolo Hill
The best way to explore Rome is by walking the city’s winding streets and hills. Take a stroll up Gianicolo Hill, one of the tallest hills in the city and catch your breath at the many rest spots and eateries. The long hike up is totally worth it when you see the breathtaking panoramic view.
Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II
Located between Capitoline Hill and Piazza Venezia, tt was created to honor unified Italy’s first king, Victor Emmanuel. Interestingly, this monument was pieced together by various well-known sculptors from around the nation.
The Pantheon
An absolute must-see. Even if you have merely a few hours in this city, you must go see the pantheon. It is the only virtually intact Roman temple to have survived in centuries.
Villa Borghese
This gorgeous villa and its surrounding grounds was built as a party villa in the 16th century for Cardinal Scipione Borghese. A must see for its beautiful gardens and charming architecture.
Vatican
Art lovers should not miss the Vatican where aside from St Peter’s Basilica and the stunning Sistine Chapel, you visitor’s can fine one of the largest collections of Etruscan art, classic sculptures, renaissance and medieval art within the Vatican Museum.
Colosseum
Once the biggest amphitheater of ancient Rome, the Roman Colosseum had 80 entrances and the capacity to accommodate 80,000 people. The construction on this Colosseum began in 72 AD under Emperor Vespasian and took 8 years to complete. The last performance in this Colosseum was in the year 523.
